Stand4Marriage Sunday
"Only a union between one man and one woman shall be valid or recognized as marriage in West Virginia."
The Amendment must receive a 2/3 majority vote in the legislature before being placed on the ballot for a vote by the people of our state. Be sure and call your state representative and senator and urge them to vote for this Marriage Protection Amendment bill. The time to stand for marriage is now!
Consequently, the Family Policy Council of West Virginia and the Family Research Council are partnering to encourage and equip every pastor and church in the state to:
1. Recruit a Leader: Appoint someone who will help coordinate efforts within your church to promote the “Stand for Marriage” within your church to promote the Marriage Amendment and work with www.wv4marriage.com (either a motivated layperson or an associate pastor).
2. Promote awareness about the Marriage Amendment effort: Use your church media and communications to make members aware of the Amendment on March 1 - Stand4Marriage Sunday. The links below will provide you all the resources you need for Stand4Marriage Sunday, including helpful videos.
3. Be a Part of “Stand4Marriage Sunday”: The links below will assist your plans for Stand4Marriage Sunday. Resources include a full-text Biblical Message, Message Notes, PowerPoint, Bulletin Insert, Commitment Cards, Videos, etc. Consider preaching a message or series of messages on marriage beginning March 1. Encourage your people to sign commitment cards pledging to join the “Stand4Marriage” effort.
4. Urge Your State Elected Officials to Vote YES! Encourage your people to make phone calls, write letters, send e-mails, and make personal visits with legislators. Point your people to www.wv4marriage.com where they can find the contact info for their elected officials and more information on this effort to preserve traditional marriage in West Virginia.
Your involvement will ensure that we have a fighting chance to preserve marriage the way the Bible describes it: only a union between one man and one woman. You can make the difference!
